  • The food is generally rather good, you can dine very well for £1 incl. soft drinks and service. It's BYO too, no corkage. The lambchops are to die for. Def revisiting!

  • I've been to Tayyabs many times, often just for a quick takeaway as the queue is busy. Unlike most people who go recently, I am a born and bred Londoner who has been going here since the yuppies and hipsters muscled in and to be quite honest (like everything that happens when these people move in) the quality has dropped. I remember my old man taking me when I was younger. The place was shabby but there was plenty of heart. The food was fiery and mouthwatering and you'd rarely be stuck in a queue. However, after visiting there recently and seeing the posh refurb, I almost cried when I realised how plain the food tasted and how over the top the atmosphere had become. But I still come back to Tayyabs, the chicken naan wrap is still one of my favourite takeaways. If you're a yuppy or hipster you may be disappointed. You got here too late, the Tayyabs that deserved the current buzz is gone. 3 stars for nostalgic value and decent food.

  • This was a rubbish and a complete nonsense place. Dont waste your money and time here. We were made to wait 45mins for a table of two around hovering over other people eating. Food is cooked well but nothing outstanding, you can get the same stuff in any other indian restaurant. After a wait of 45mins standing, anything infront of you will be delicious. We also noticed that people who came after us were given a table as they happen to know the some staff. Not worth a penny. I am never ever going to go there. I still dont understand why are people willing to stand inside the restaurant in a queue for a curry with some naan bread. This was a humiliating expereince.

  • this restuarant made me extremely angry. we waited for an hour an a half (no jokes) in a hot crowded environment. once we were finally seated service was terrible, waiters were rude - we waited for 20 minutes to get out change! the food was bad. greasy naan bread, synthetic tasting mango lassi, food all came at once so you couldn't enjoy it, and overall a horrible experience. I want my evening back! go to one of the many other great curry houses in the area, this place doesn't deserve your custom.

  • The greatest piece of east end Junk. Stay well clear guys do not fall for this deceptive restaurant, it may have been around for a long long time but my guess is they have lost there standard and quality somewhere along the line, now it just seems all about greed and how they can just get every penny out of you and as quickly as possible as they have more people waiting to be deceived. Food taste was poor, long wait, smelly and humid inside, horrible experience all together, they will charge you for every penny they can. All i will say is there are much better Indian restaurants within that vicinity.

  • This place is seemingly famous for being famous. Its certainly not famous for it's food or service. It's now so busy you have to queue for a long time to be seated. They want you in and out and no care is given to much else. My pregnant friend asked for a jug of tap water and was told she couldn't have it because we were seated downstairs and tap water was only available upstairs. She is 8 months pregnant! I am pretty certain the law states that tap water can't be refused, especially to a pregnant woman. After A LOT of arguing with the waiters/manager she was given glass and told that only she could have it refilled - by going upstairs to receive it! The food was average at best - I tried their 'signature' dry lamb chops which were overcooked and grisly and not nice at all. The music would burst loudly and at times was more like a disco. Main dishes were served 15 minutes before the rice and breads. I am really disappointed in this place. I've had far better asian food up Brick Lane and FAR better service.

  • Probably the best indian food I have ever tasted. I loved the atmosphere and the crazy disorganised service! I can understand some being bothered by this but I loved it. I will be hard pushed to find better, tastier Indian food....

  • I only ever write reviews when I love a place or hate it and this is a mixture of the two. the food is great, I love it.. but I hate the atmosphere the hustle and bussle doesn’t suit me.. so what’s a nice way around this. get a take away! twice i’ve ordered a take away, first time i bought a small curry, rice and roti, which in my calculations was about £12, they charged me £16 when questioning this it was corrected, the second time I was in a rush and ordering for a few so I ordered one large curry (twice the price £12 instead of £6) and rice and roti, luckily they charged me correctly but they only gave me a small curry in the same sized tub i got previously as I was in a rush I couldn’t go back as I only noticed when I was on the train going back to kent taking the food to my mum for her birthday, we went hungry and my mum loved her food. calling them they were too busy to even care about my problem and offered no form of refund or compensation. not happy, there are plenty of great curry houses around this area, try tayyabs for sure as the foods great but I’m not going back there and I’ll enjoy finding somewhere with great food and hopefully less mistakes when it comes to taking my money.

  • Completely over rated, this place is a victim of its own success. Over crowded, noisy, average food, showing little imagination. Staff too busy to care about customer service. If you want to eat in a place that has people queuing past your table, busy, hot, uncomforable, serving average food then is is your kind of place. This place is akin to eating a takeaway on a busy rush hour tube, although in fairness the tube is probably less busy.

  • The food is fantastic and the staff is very kind. We ate there three times, once on a wed and twice on a fri. It is true that the wait can be long (even thought if you show up in 4 on a weekday you will be seated immediately!) but the food is worth it! I am surprised that a lot of comments here refer to the fact that the cusine is not genuinely asian. But to be fair it is a Pakistani restaurant, so it is a pretty specific type of food and my Indian friends from New Delhi and Mumbai think it is fantastic too! To solve this mystery next time I will go with my Pakistani friend! Also the price is fair and once you are seated you can stay there as long as you like, they won't mind if you are loud. Perfect place for big parties if you are patient!
