We've just got back from a pleasant evening at this newly opened restaurant in Monmouth. We live just around the corner and so braved the weather to try out what looked like a great place to eat, drink and chill - a much needed new eatery in Monmouth. It was great that we could just walk in on a busy Friday night and get a place to sit on a comfy leather sofa in the chicly decorated interior. We ordered a carafe of Bordeaux - reasonably priced and drinkable - and then ordered nibbles. The small bowl of chilli cashews were in fact, mainly peanuts, which was a bit annoying as I'm not terribly fond of peanuts, but love cashews and the menu said "cashews". My partner liked them, but I found them to be (apart from mainly peanuts!) rather hot, but bland. We then ordered a selection of items from the tapas menu, most of which was ok, but again, a bit bland. The tortilla was good (though a pretty small portion) as were the tempura beans. The belly pork was ok, but again, a bit bland (sorry to keep using that word!). The herbed chicken was ok. The potato bravas were really a bit strange. A small plate of fried potatoes with a dollop of slightly bland (again that word!) sauce on top. We didn't have pudding, but my partner ordered a Spanish coffee - with brandy, to finish off. Very nice! Overall verdict: love the decor and a much needed desirable place to eat and drink in Monmouth, so will probably return, but maybe, at the moment only for drinks or coffee and cake, unless the food improves. Most annoying thing: being asked about five times during the course of the evening if "everything was OK". Really hate this, especially when the over-attentive staff interrupt a conversation you are having in order to ask!!! It's rude and makes one think that the staff are trying to move you on!

A fun, friendly and quirky place in Monmouth. Each table is unique, made from reclaimed industrial parts and looks fantastic. The owner told me that most of the wines are not available anywhere else in England as she personally sources them from boutique vineyards, too small for chain stores and restaurants. And it was worth all the effort. The food is great quality too, with lots of tapas on the menu from fresh ingredients beautifully presented.
