Not usually one to venture to bars as far out in Wimbledon but a couple of well-respected chums mused that this poky bar in Wimbledon was churning out the best Mojitos in London. Never one to discriminate against cocktail bars not in Zone 1 I ventured out one calm Monday evening to put this statement to the test. The Terrace pleasantly surprised me, the Mojitos were top draw, good helping of fresh mint and lime muddled correctly and balanced well with a mix of gold and dark rums. Not sickly sweet with a sour bite coming through at the end of each sip from the lime and mint. They have this drink down to a T, I had 5 and they were all consistent – venturing in to the world of old fashioned’s and manhattans they were not so successful so it’s a one trick bar but a good trick. Two chaps behind the bar were friendly and accommodating – service was reasonably quick. So best Mojito in London? Could well be.

The Terrace restaurant in Wimbledon is located in the Centre Court Shopping Centre, making it a great place for a mid-shop lunch, after-work drinks or dinner. There’s a long bar, a dance floor and armchairs for relaxing as well as room for dining a deux or in a large group. Outside, a large terrace circles the restaurant and diners can relax in the glass conservatory area. Why not start with moules marinière or goat’s cheese bruschetta? Mains range from pastas and wood-fired pizzas to sticky BBQ ribs. There’s a great selection of well-priced wines and some wicked cocktails, so don’t miss out on Happy Hour between 5pm and 8pm. Smart yet relaxed, this is a great place to eat out in Wimbledon.
