We now understand Agent Dale Cooper’s surprise at finding a ‘damn fine cup of coffee’ in the remote town of Twin Peaks, because we just found one in Finsbury Park. Tucked away behind the junction of Stroud Green Road and Upper Tollington Park, a small, unassuming coffee shop is now caffeinating locals.

Vagabond serves up double shot coffees, including the inevitable Kiwi-style flat whites. Owner Dai Noras, who previously worked at the acclaimed Tapped & Packed coffee bar in Fitzrovia, uses quality beans from Has Bean (for milky coffee) and Union Coffee (for espresso) to make his strong brews.

For those who also like to nibble, there’s a selection of own-baked cakes (usually apple, carrot or banana cake, all made with wholemeal flour), pastries and sandwiches, soup of the day or omelettes. The interior is simple but stylish with a handful of wooden tables. It’s less of a local secret than it used to be, and it’s becoming increasingly hard to bag a table.

Best place to go in the area. No doubt about it. Coffee there is amazing and they make sure they wash milk jugs after every coffee they make, which is rare in coffee shops. The food is great too. They have very good sandwiches and cakes. The staff is very friendly. Great place to go.

A great little place. Excellent coffee, relaxed atmosphere, and limited menu that looks good, although have only tried the banana bread so far. 4 stars in my book. To get 5 they would need to have Darjeeling and Ceylon teas.

I love vagabond. Finally a place in Stroud Green that does excellent coffee. Very friendly staff too.

Was enjoying this little cafe - egg and bacon sandwiches for breakkie were great! But this morning discovered that they allow dogs inside the cafe - it is such a small place the kitchen within sneezing distance of the tables. Prepared Food is open on the counter with dogs nearby! There were two dogs with owners and I'm afraid in my opinion giving a bad impression of their hygiene standards. I understand that the law provides discretion for cafe owners - perhaps a sign saying DOG FRIENDLY INSIDE would save time with people not happy with this arrangement... great pity

This place is a gem. Often busy but always friendly. Open from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Very knowledgeable about coffee and willing to chat if that's what you want, but also happy to just smile and get on with it. The baked goods, especially the banana bread and chocolate chunk cookies (when they have them) are a nice addition and the sandwiches are very good. The omelet isn't to my taste, but presented very nicely.

it was very hot night with my boyfriend Mohamed.at morning i was tied,like engine without fuel.and when i found this small hole,the boys help me find new power to this day.the coffee was gentle,and i remember my childhood.i bring back my lost power.very good.thanks
