Pizzeria: Italian

Once on the frontline of the new wave of pizza restaurants, Eco now seems something of an old-timer. The curvy decor still demonstrates a commitment to breaking up the lines of a long, thin room, but the contoured boards on the ceiling and around the bar are looking a little battered. It's the same with the pizzas, which were once about the best you could get in the capital, yet have now been left trailing by newcomers such as Franco Manca.

Portions are generous and the toppings fresh, but our sourdough base was a little chewy. In contrast, the pasta - so often an afterthought in a pizza joint - was excellent, with a rich but not too creamy carbonara sauce going down well. Reasonable prices help paper over any culinary cracks.

avoid this place, worst service ever and average food.

Avoid at all cost. Eco might have been ok at the time out time out's review but I went there last week and found very average service and the worst risotto I ever tasted in London. Maybe their pizzas are better but I won't be going back to find out.

I went to Eco on Saturday afternoon on the back of the review that Timeout did on it. I found the staff friendly, the service top notch but the pizza was not up to scratch. I ordered the American hot(Pepperoni) and found that the entire pizza had been covered in garlic. A lot of garlic, so much so that the flavour of the pepperoni came second at best. Disappointing really. I wont be going back.
