Furnace's crisp logo recalls the plentiful design agencies round Shoreditch these days. Inside, the old building has an airy industrial feel created by exposed brick and wooden beams - plus a Banksy print and a wall-mounted bicycle.
Starters are hearty considering the carb-fest to follow; a poached blade of beef with salsa verde and horseradish was rather blunt in flavour. The 'porketta' pizza (sliced suckling pig, sour cream, fennel and salsa verde) is just one of the many bells-and-whistles examples of toppings here. A few pasta, meat and fish options are chalked up as specials; sea bass with fennel was moist and light.
To finish, a zabaglione-filled tartufo nero was the sort of dessert you hankered after as a kid from the saturated-colour picture menus on holidays abroad.

Babies and children admitted, Separate room for parties ( seats 50 ), Takeaway serviceIt's not THAT bad! It just ain't that good. And where else are you going to get a suckling pig pizza? One star for the one time novelty value. Then never come back.
Worst service, pizza was nothing to rave about and even had the lovely manager scream across the street " if you don't like the service then don't come back". All I can say is thank you for such an entertaining evening. Please don't be alarmed if you goto Furnace and the general manager does not seem to care that he had treated you in a way that is unacceptable as tis seems to be general practise!
I am astonished that Time Out awarded this restaurant the same amount of stars as Franco Manca (!) which is one of the best places to eat genuine pizza. Furnace is simply the worst! One expects a pizza to be doughy with the cheese melting and stretching not a hard tasteless board with cheap cheese quality, a couple of cold (!) mozzarella cubes and 2 (!) cherry tomatoes topping! The calzone is not even worth mentioning.
The place has no charm at all and is far too expensive for the experience it offers. Very disappointing!
