In 1998, this spot won Best Budget Meal in Time Out's Eating & Drinking Awards. Just over ten years later, it's not even in the top four or five best budget meals within a 100-yard radius. Still, that's more a reflection of the fierce competition from other Turkish joints nearby than anything else; the food here is still pretty decent. The bustling canteen atmosphere that defines many Dalston grills is absent: the food is served on white tablecloths, and the grill is out of sight at the back of the long, grey room. But with the exception of tripe soup, a house speciality, the fare is familiar: solid meze, sad salads and, of course, an abundance of grilled meats.
