One of the biggest joys of an Ethiopian meal is the element of ceremony, and despite low-key surroundings, the Queen of Sheba happily obliges in this. Its simple, café-style set-up might not be as cosy or atmospheric as some, with the bustle of Kentish Town inescapable through the windows, but all the right aromas, trinkets and other cultural touches are present. More crucially, the flavours are here too.
The menu offers a well-described range of we'ts and t'ibs (spicy stews), with ample choice for vegetarians and plenty of milder dishes for the spice-shy. The Sheba special kifto - traditional spiced steak tartare served with a cheese and spinach mixture - was delicious, as was the chef's special of bozena shiro, a creamy chickpea and fried meat stew. A fiery side dish of stuffed chillies defeated us, but the sympathetic serving team were on hand with some milk.
Platefuls of perfectly sour injera come as standard with each main course, and the stews are presented and spooned on to the flatbread for you, in cheerful ritual by the relaxed yet attentive staff. The only disappointment is a lack of decent desserts; the headily spiced coffee just about compensates.

The food was tasty and exotic, the service was very attentive and the lady server was extremely sweet to us. I am already looking forward to my next visit! Oh and I need to mention that the Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a must to cap off you meal. Fantastic!
this is a great place - delicious food, friendly family run business. our favorite in north london and a great change from the usual 'standard fare' offered by most other restaurants. If you haven't been try it out.
I find everything about this place to be fantastic. I have being going there for a few years now and have brought all my family there at different times. It is a family run place with such friendly services that I could never fault. The food does usually take a long time to arrive after ordering but once you get the food you will forget the wait. Portions are pretty good. I don't think I have ever come out of there not bursting. Would keep recommending this place to anyone, as I have always done.
Everything about this restaurant was really disappointing. The seats were too hard, the portions were stingy, and the food tasted at best average, at worst very unpleasant. My girlfriend recommended this restaurant as she had loved it when she went a couple of years ago. I would not recommend it.
