Restaurant: South Indian

Established in 1973, Sree Krishna was the first South Indian restaurant in Tooting and it remains one of the finest to this day. The interior might be reminiscent of a hotel lobby in Ootacamund circa 1965, and the service can be oddly somnambulant, but the kitchen was still on fine form on our visit. Give the bhunas, vindaloos and kormas a swerve and choose instead the 'vegetarian starters', the 'dry vegetables' and the 'chef's specials', all of which are distinctively South Indian. We can especially recommend the appam and meat curry - giant, saucer-like crumpets with spicy lamb - and the beetroot thoran, a stir-fry of diced and spiced purple tubers. The huge, crisp dosas are also standout.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years. We always get great service and the food is always good and we don't have to wait long for courses. We really like the food and staff, the restaurant is quieter these days than it used to be but we shall continue to visit.

Same experience as BoobzMcGee ... Saturday night, starter appeared (slowly), ages and ages to wait for main. Second time this has happened to us recently there. Tried to discuss this with someone who seemed to be in charge but he wasn't really interested. Such a shame - have loved this place for years but its now off my list!

Last time I ate here, I walked out without paying. We were about two hours in to our meal, and still no sign of a main. Service was abysmal. And all that, after having booked in advance, then told to come back as they were too busy.
Once loved this place. Don't anymore

I called Sri Krishna for delivery and despite being in the radius the manager was very rude. When asked politely to consider talking in a civil manner, he shouted and screamed over the phone ! It was shocking and to think that I have been there and eaten and recommended the place - I felt pretty let down. It went a long way to show their attitude to clients and negated any good experiences I had had there. Avoid - what if he next throws plates in the middle of a meal ?

14 of us visited Sree Krishna on thursday and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, the food didnt take too long despite us being a sizeable group, and they also gave all of us a complimentary starter! A good evening all round. And the beer was resonably priced.
