The upmarket Thai restaurant Blue Elephant in Fulham closed in in December 2011 to relocate to Imperial Wharf, a modern development overlooking the Thames. From mid January 2012, Blue Elephant will take over these premises, formerly Saran Rom (Blue Elephant's fancier offshoot).
Dining at Blue Elephant has always been as much about the experience as the food, and this is not going to change in the new premises. The nicely laid-out and stylish multi-level dining room (all reproduction teak furniture and bold silks) has views of the river and there's an outdoor terrace for the warmer months.
The menu has been slightly changed and is now divided into three sections: Thai Cooking of the Past (based on 'ancient recipes', including massaman lamb curry), Thai Cuisine of Today (classic Thai dishes) and Thai Kitchen of Tomorrow (featuring chef Noroor Somany's creation of seared French goose liver with tamarind sauce).
Blue Elephant is part of an international chain with establishments across the world, all receiving many ingredients flown in daily from Bangkok. Each branch promotes refined royal Thai cuisine, derived from the ancient palace cookery of the Ayutthaya kingdom in central Thailand.

Facilities
Tables outdoors ( 28, riverside patio ), Babies and children welcome ( crayons; high chairs; nappy-changing facilities ), Separate room for parties ( seating 8, 25, 35 and 110 ), Disabled ( toilet ), Takeaway serviceAbsolutely wonderful restaurant, excellent service, fantastic food and just brilliantly flamboyant and fun. Incredibly child friendly, the staff could not have been more helpful or kinder to a very boisterous 8 and 4 year old. Could eat the Royal Thai Banquet over and over again. Must commend staff for being very accommodating to the picky eaters in our group. Can't wait to see them in their new venue.
