But for the tables outside, you might think that this was a shop. But a pub it is, and a popular one at that: head here on a Friday evening, and you'll probably find 'reserved' signs hanging on most of the dozen or so tables that hug the edge of this intimate venue.
A stripped-down menu of simple mixed drinks (Stoli or Smirnoff with ginger ale, Gordon's and grapefruit, Captain Morgan and Coke) cuts nicely to the chase, but most stick to reliable wines or the beers, which might include Adnams on draft.
As those 'reserved' signs make plain, food's a big part of the appeal, and with reason: it's both excellent and keenly priced. The staff who serve it are absolute darlings, genuinely delighted to see you.
Little images of The Sweeney and the Duke of Edinburgh provide offbeat levity.

Tables outdoors ( 8, garden ), Babies and children admitted, Booking advisable, Available for hireI had a rib eye steak Sunday mother's day and it was amazing. It read 'Dexter rib eye' found out that Dexter is a rare bread of cattle in the Uk and they get some of their meat directly from Old Hall Farm in Kent these days other members of the family loved their roast beef also from the farm. The service was friendly and professional, talking to one member of staff she told me that the guys running it has been there since November 2010. They seem to be doing well as it was extremely busy. Unlike Alan i strongly recommend it.
I purchased the rib eye steak main course, bread, and x2 drinks. The service I found was quite shoddy the bread I first recieved was hard and stale and the staff did not give me a butter knife, the steak was 80% fat managed to probably have x2 mouth fulls of steak, most of the chips that came with the steak was either under-cooked or overcooked, the salad consists of a bowl of lettice and oil. Overall not a good experience I would not recommened.
