Although discreetly tucked above a Korean-Japanese grocery, Hana was
full-to-bursting on our visit. We soon discovered why. The be-scarfed chef behind the counter produces a spectacular procession of made-to-order sushi served on wooden boards and pretty white-and-blue pottery. Solo diners and couples can sit at the bar, groups at the spacious banquettes and booths. Grilled eel nigiri was deliciously warm and succulent. In fact the only duff note was the icing sugar used to decorate a tuna salad with creamy dressing.

And happy hour on Saturdays from 12 to 5, pieces of nigiri for £1 and rolled sushi for £2. Unmissable!
