Scarlett O'Hara would approve of the sweeping staircase that guarantees a grand entrance into Christopher's sumptuous dining room, housed on the first floor of a striking mid nineteenth-century building in Covent Garden.
The menu, described as neo-American, lists USDA prime steaks, maryland crab cakes and new york cheesecake next to Modern European and pan-Asian dishes. A starter of lobster bisque came with a trio of floating Chinese-style dumplings packed with lobster meat.
Clever presentation extended to a main of Missouri rubbed roast rump of lamb served with pumpkin confit and an avocado-filled tamale wrapped in a corn husk.
Located a whisker away from the Lyceum Theatre, home of 'The Lion King', Christopher's offers a competitively priced pre- and post-theatre menu. Smoked salmon fish cakes and charcoal-grilled leg of lamb with chickpea mash and horseradish crème fraîche were both executed to a high standard, if not better than those dishes we ordered from the carte.
American wines are represented well, but diners can also sip one of the many imaginative martinis produced by the busy cocktail bar downstairs.
Efficient service saw dropped cutlery and used glasses replaced without hesitation, adding to the overall impression that Christopher's is a class act.

Facilities
Babies and children welcome ( children's menu; high chairs ), Booking advisable, Separate room for parties ( seats 40 ), Available for hireI have organised a corporate Christmas Dinner for our team at Christopher's last week. We booked the 1st floor small dining room; it has a great view on the bridge and the "city by night", which adds charm to any late evening meal. The food was excellent, the service was very attentive and extremely quick in helping our guests feel taken care of and comfortable. It's an excellent place to dine! Strongly recommended must-go in London.
I have been to Christopher's quite a few times over the years and always found it to be a great central venue in a great setting with very attentive staff. The food is amazing, always well presented and good portion sizes.
Christopher's is the perfect place to catch up with friends at the Martini Bar and to dining out in style.
Since coming under new management, this restaurant never fails to impress. I absolutely love their weekend brunches so much so that I held a brunch in their private dining area for 15 people - executed by the Christopher's team brilliantly. Both the restaurant and the bar are individually characteristic, and there's something on offer for client entertaining, an after-drink work with colleagues or a catch up with friends and family. A must go-to in London!
