Surrounded by the greenery of Wandsworth Common, this in-park café should be an idyllic destination. Sadly, on our visit the dreary interior and lacklustre food made it about as appealing as a school dinner.
A children's menu featuring chicken goujons and fish fingers joins a standard selection of sandwiches and jacket potatoes; the specials consist of a pie and tart of the day. We can't speak for the tart, but our chicken pie was a depressing affair, its thick, soup-like filling topped with an undersized disc of puff pastry. The side salad of lettuce and seemingly tinned mixed beans hardly helped matters.
If you happen to be stopping by at around teatime, you'll find a varied range of classic bakes, from victoria sandwich to carrot cake, but the orange and poppyseed slice that we tried was hideously stodgy. Best order a failsafe tea, sit outside and put your back to Common Ground.

Sat outside yesterday in the unseasonally warm weather and was very impressed by this place.
Enjoyed a full English Breakfast here on Saturday and it was excellent.
Great location and there was a great deal of sport going on around the area.
We will be back.
Very surprised by the Timeout Review.
I go there often with friends and family and we find it very it to be much better than above review.
Location is fabulous and interior is spacious, clean and has had a recent more modern makeover.
Breakfasts are very good, lunch is can vary but generally good, coffee, cakes and ice cream are excellent.
There are also a lot of weekday activities for toddlers which adds to the family appeal.
