Paying homage to the art deco heritage of Claridge's, GR balances glamour and vintage sparkle with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Sweeping drapes, an abundance of fresh flowers, and plenty of space add to the special-occasion feel. Top marks to the accomplished service team, who lend warmth, wit and bonhomie to the theatrical setting.

The weighty wine list can be overwhelming - best ask for guidance from the sommelier, who will also match wines by the glass.

The kitchen produces food with confidence and flair, for an audience of tourists, celebratory families, business folk, and romancing couples. Salad of plump chicken livers, juicy and pink in the centre, played well with crisp-fried smoky bacon strips, and a soft-boiled quail's egg; we even mopped up the tangy dressing with an obliging slice of caramelised onion bread. The star act was our second starter: a delectable melange of warm linguine, tossed in creamy velouté sauce with crab meat and crayfish morsels, finished with a flurry of chopped red chillies. Fish is a highlight. Sea trout fillets, golden and glistening, were cooked to perfection, making a happy marriage with lightly smoked mussels warmed through in a creamy haricot bean cassoulet. Delicate Cornish lemon sole fillets, perched on a bed of neatly arranged blanched asparagus, were enriched with lemon butter sauce - a simple, yet tasty main course. Desserts made a fitting finale to a fabulous meal. Hot chocolate sponge yielded to uncover a centre of warm molten sauce: a delicious contrast to the chill of ice-cream infused with fresh mint. Chocolate parfait also got the thumbs-up for its creamy texture and hazelnut praline coating.

In January 2012 press reports suggested that the contract for Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's would not be renewed after the summer on 2012, and it has been suggested that New York restaurateur Danny Meyer may be the nextoccupant of the premises.

Can't understand the poor reviews. Faultless dining experience and the set lunch is great value at £30 for three courses.

this place is mainly for tourists being able to say "I was there". Room is ok (because it´s the Claridges) but too many tables and you get to hear all conversations around, service is very poor for a top notch resrtaurant, all in a hurry and very little attention to details, food very disappointing, tiny portions, almost cold and tastless apart from the salt no original flavors. It seems that after a while this hype chefs restaurants are like a super fast food with no edge and no objective other than to make money with a brand. At we least we now now we will never go back and will save some of our friends their money. definitely not worth a single star. For a 3 star experience go to Paris, Ducasse, le V, Taillevent and others are of another planet compared to this one

This offer is rubbish. I booked the offer and when the confirmation came through it was for the Reading Room at Claridges. That's a different restaurant in the same hotel! Make sure to check that they booked you in the correct restaurant!

great service, great tea!!! I agree everything was ten out of ten. I loved having a stylish yet traditional English tea and scones and with a beautiful surrounding. I have made a request for this dessert blog to write a review as I enjoyed myself so much.

I took my mother here for a birthday lunch last year and everything was perfect. All the staff took time to wish her Happy Birthday. There was no snobbery towards us, which can sometimes ben expected in places like this. The staff made every effort to make my mums birthday as enjoyable as possible, and even took us for a tour of the kitchen. They brought out a mini cupcake and had iced Happy Birthday on the plate, and my mother commented it was my birthday in a couple of days time - unexpectedly, a few minutes later, another Happy Birthday cake came out for me. The service was 10/10 and the food was absolutely divine. The cheeseboard was exquisite. A beautiful place to go for a treat! I still talk about our time there now.
