Part of Soho House, this stylish establishment lies under the group's High Road House hotel and members' club. The wide pavement permits a large outdoor seating area, while the interior resembles a Parisian brasserie, with touches such as patterned Victorian floor tiles and green banquettes along the walls.
It's a proper brasserie in terms of opening hours: breakfast is served, and there are brunch, lunch and a diverse all-day/dinner menus. You can also have just a drink or snack any time, as well as afternoon tea.
When it opened in 2006, it buzzed with locals, tourists and shoppers of all ages. Nowadays, however, it's often all too easy to get a table. Instead of excitement, we've noticed a rather lackadaisical vibe, not helped by staff who can be offhand and a core clientele betraying the self-important insensitivity that cause many to give Chiswick a wide berth.
The menu that once delighted - with its mix of Brit nursery/school/pub food and US brunch mainstays - now seems passé and rather twee, while portions have shrunk and prices seem to have risen in equal measure.

Facilities
Tables outdoors ( 8, pavement ), Babies and children welcome ( children's menu; crayons; high chairs; nappy-changing facilities ), Booking advisable ( dinner and weekends ), Disabled ( toilet )After having a very rough and unwelcoming experience at the High Road Brasserie two years ago, we never wanted to go back. A friend's birthday invitation got us back there and WOW, what a wonderful evening we've had! From the moment we arrived the manageress and her staff made us feel very welcome and special. It did get pretty crowded at times and we did have to wait unusually long for our food, but the wait was made up for with a wine decanting demonstration and a birthday
pudding.
Clearly an improvement.
I used to really like this place for a simple midweek meal. As previous users have said, they once did an excellent beef burger. But the quality of the food has absolutely nose-dived over the last year, going from quite good for simple dishes, to completely inedible. Such a shame. (Unlike others, I've always personally found the staff to be very pleasant.)
Not up to the standards of the other Soho House venues. Food is decent and they do make a pretty mac & cheese off the menu, but the attitude of the staff is generally poor. You'd think being in Chiswick, where most diners are local, you'd go out of your way to keep people happy but I've not found that to be the case.
the HIGH ROAD BRASSERIE is possibly the worst place to be in Chiswick! It cannot be compared to the other restaurants in the Soho House Group. The service is neither friendly or helpful and the whole dining experience is completely unpleasant and the prices are ridiculous for what is on offer. If you happen to sit outside you will do so until hell freezes over as NO ONE WILL COME TO SERVE UNLESS YOU GO IN AND SHOUT!!!!! Then they consider you to be a nuisance.
Not a place to be seen dead in unless you really don't mind being ignored.
re the High Road Brasserie - forgot to mention that having booked one evening for dinner and phoning to say we would be 5 minutes late, which, as it happens we were not - we got a lecture from the HOSTESS telling us we should have been there 15 minutes earlier even though we arrived spot on the time we had booked. She was a bundle of angst and utterly horrible - WISH WE HAD WALKED THEN!!!!! This place is NOT A GOOD ONE.
Worst dining experience in years! The chips tasted horrible and smelled strongly of over cooked oil. My friends stake was basically a big piece of fat, creatively concealed under a tasteless green sauce and I needed a magnifying glass to identify the miniscule shrimps that theoretically came with my cod.
All four of us left very disappointed!
Unacceptable food and ridiculous prices!
Definite No Go!!!!!
This was my first and last time of going to the High Road Brasserie. The fact that there was a mix up and 'hostess' Barbara couldn't find the reservation is forgiven but her attitude IS NOT ! an evening in a restaurant, where you are hoping to have a relaxing & pleasurable (even if expensive ! ) experience, will never turn up that way when the 'welcoming hostes' is rude to the extend you feel your only hope of a nice evening is being anywhere but there !!!
We made a booking for 4 to celebrate a friend's birthday. When we got there the hostess Barbara was so rude to us. She claimed our booking was not on the computer system and basically called my friend a lier. it was a very unpleasant experience. Luckily, Just around the corner we found Brasserie Gerard. Although we had no booking with them, they were kind and found us a lovely table. We enjoyed a great birthday party with excellent food and fantastic service. We will never go to Brasserie High Road as long as this rude women Barbara works there.
I've been going to the high rd brasserie on a regular basis since it first opened. I've noticed a steady decline in their service and food quality. Last night we were sat down, next to the toilets, after having waited 30 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. We ordered the cheese tartlet, expecting the usual delicious dish, but we were served like a dry supermarket piece of pastry with 3 slices of goats cheese which were served cold and hard. I complained and had this taken off the bill. We also ordered the tbone steak and were served an inferior piece of meat, which we struggled to cut, chew and swallow. We've now decided to stop going to the brasserie for dinner, instead we will only go for breakfast for a fry up. The reality is that this place is now become an expensive glorified cafe! No longer worth the effort. Oh and by the way, the eastern European waitress with the long face that served us, find yourself a job you'd be happy at.
