A recent spruce up (new seat covers, lick of paint) has given this venue, formerly a Barclays Bank, a fresh face without changing its layout, or informal atmosphere. A balcony restaurant overlooks the stage, where a variety of jazz, soul, funk, and world music acts appear. Weekend club nights, like cheesy 'I love the '80s' on Saturdays, attract the students, but the place remains best known for proper music, with a line in soon-to-be-huge US acts: Mary J Blige and John Legend played their first European dates here. The menu offers dishes such as Caribbean chicken with rice and peas, roasted butternut squash risotto and lime mousse with a passion fruit coulis.

Booking advisable, Disabled ( toilet )Most appalling staff at the door, the shaven head bald guy with stubbles on his scalp who the bouncers say was the "boss" was rude & verbally abusive. He & the rest of the door staff need to be sacked if this place would like to remain open. Certainly a place NOT to go to until the management looks at the behaviour of the staff. Whilst we were standing to get in, the bald guy physically pushed a man who was requesting to check with the lady who was responsible for the guest list. Shame on Jazz Club.
I have visited the Jazz Cafe on a number of occasion and finally decided to book a table in the restaurant, @ 16.50 a main meal you would at least expect for your food to be served hot, after I sent it back as it was look warm 20 mins later it was returned to me in, at a temp that I was advised was pipping hot, again the food was look warm. The service is rubbish, I mean how many times should I have to request condiments, drinks, etc before they are received, some were even requested from the manager whom again completely forgot to bring them over or either forgot we were their. I would not recommend the restuarant I had the Chicken and my friend had the Salmon (which was tasteless), both had to be sent even though we were still charged. They need to train all the staff on Customer Service. Luckly the show we went to see was amazing, next time I'll do as I used to and eat before I arrive.
