High-fliers will feel at home at this rooftop establishment, part of the D&D London stable. They can admire the expanding City skyline from the outdoor terraces or dramatic lawned garden while splashing some cash on the French-slanted food. You have the choice of brassiere and restaurant, both with covered outdoor seating and sharing the smart interior of linen-draped tables, grey leather club chairs and wood partitions (the furnishings don't seem to have changed much since this was a Conran restaurant). Oysters, foie gras, lemon sole and rump steak are typical offerings in the restaurant, for which an expense account would be handy - most mains hover around the £25 mark.

We ate lunch in the brasserie (on the viewless terrace encircling the lift shaft, which is used for drinkers come the evening). Lemon-grilled salmon, served with horseradishy new potatoes, came crisp-skinned but the fish was underdone; a salad of goat's cheese, palm hearts and leaves lacked zing. Fat chips, served in a dinky silver bowl, were tasty but cost £4.50 (ouch). Dessert made amends: upside-down blackcurrant cake, dramatically presented in a little glass bowl, with a scoop of almond milk ice-cream perched on a silver spoon. Despite the plethora of black-garbed staff whisking busily about, service was amateurish, with the waiter asking how the food was before we'd tasted a morsel.

I booked this restaurant for a romantic meal with my partner knowing nothing about it. I had seen an offer on toptable for a spring/summer set price menu. When we arrived we were worried there would be too many City types there, there were a few but we were pleasantly surprised as it was very busy with a mixed crowd (possibly because of the offer). The staff were really attentive and the sommelier was very helpful (even when there was a mix-up over the wine we ordered). The spring set menu we had was lovely, although the portions were small, and so was our wine. The wine was very pricey but this is to be expected from this type of restaurant. There was a great terrace which we weren't able to use as the weather was bad but this would offer great views in the summer I'd imagine. All in all we had a great evening so I would recommend it!

Coq d'argent, good for a drink on the terace when the weather is nice, but I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone! My friends ordered foie gras for starters and steak for main, foie gras was nice, but the steak was very dry and cold, the chips were undercooked. I had tuna for starter and coq au vin for main, tasteless, very disappointing! Value for money is an absolute rip off!
PS: Really avoid to go if you have any food allergy or are a vegetarian!

I went to Coq D'Argent for the first time last Fr, 9 July 2010. It was my friend's Bday and we booked a table via toptable.
It was a pleasant surprise to see such a big terrace bar and the setting was beautiful. The staff is extremely efficient, however, be prepared to queue for some time for drinks as the place is really busy.
On the arrival we asked at the reception if it would be possible to arrange a candle for the Birthday girl and received a positive reply.
The dinner was perfect, very attentive staff. The food was great, I only didn't like the bread - too hard, not tasty. I had a smoked salmon for the starter and salmon again for the main. Both were good portions and the salmon was cooked to perfection.
My plum desert didn't impress me much but my friend's frozen white chocolate&cherry was delicious.
What's more, the Bday girl received a second candle with a complimentary chocolates. Nice touch!
The restaurant is a very beautiful place and great for a special occasion.
Highly recommended!

The venue is great, but the staff (most of which struggle with English) are rude and arrogant, to say the least. You will generally wait an eternity for your meal (or a drink), and it is definitely not worth either the wait nor the price! It is an absolute rip-off.

Also watch, if you go for lunch, they have a brasserie section - which actually provides good food at a semi-reasonable price - but they only have minimal tables in the 'brasserie section'. They will push you into the restaurant where it is all much more expensive, and simply just not worth it.

Had lunch up there today. We booked the 'brasserie' but they said they only had a table in the 'restaurant section'. Waited forever for our meal, and when my pork arrived, the piece of meat was no bigger than my thumb. For £24, this was just a waist of my time and money. I was left getting a Pret sandwich on my way back to the office (after having been at Coq for some 2 hours waiting around for food). My friend ordered the steak for £25 and it was about the size of 2 thumbs, but whilst it was ordered as 'medium-well' it came out raw. Having waited so long, he ate half of it and joined me for a sandwich afterwards.

This place is fast becoming a joke. If it wasn't for the great venue, it would have gone bust like many other City eateries!

This offer appeals to me but there are no available time slots that I can find, so what use is that?
