Opened (on a different site) by the British saxophonist Ronnie Scott in 1959, this jazz institution was completely refurbished in 2006. The capacity was expanded to 250, the food got better and the bookings became drearier. Happily, though, Ronnie's has got back on track, with jazz heavyweights dominating in place of the mainstream pop acts who held sway for a while. Perch by the rear bar or get table service at the crammed side-seating or more spacious (but noisier) central tables in front of the stage.
