Bollywood or bust' might be a more apt title for this extraordinary little duplex dedicated to Indian film. Enter Sitaaray's ground floor or mezzanine and you're assailed by dance music and movie clips from plentiful flatscreen TVs. Take a seat in the boudoir-like interior and prepare to be assailed by food. Though there are à la carte options, the buffet deal is the draw. Warning bells should sound: belt-busting feeds in theme joints rarely cause gastronomic joy - but they do here.

Sitaaray's feast includes eight portions of kebabs and snacks, served à point by ultra-competent staff. Best are the amritsari fish (exquisitely fresh in its crisp batter), the pâté-like disc of peppered lamb kebab, and the expertly seared dill chicken tikka. Then comes the main course: thali-sized pots of creamy makhani dal, delicious mixed veg in a fenugreek-based masala, and… chicken tikka masala (why?). More is offered should you stagger to a completion.

We had no complaint about any dish, though the meal was unbalanced (too much chicken, not enough vegetables): come with friends and make sure some order the vegetarian version of the feast. Desserts are an impossibility, but try to find space for a movie-themed cocktail.

i love the theme
i love the fact that is was unlimited
i love the fact that there was a tv per table
the staff look tired but it is because they are running around trying to please everyone
the below comments are probably over-exaggerated, as I am a frequent customer and have not experienced such thing, other than having to pay 22.95 because I did not mention the offer...but as a frequent customer I know to always mention it
and the food...very tasty!! and nothing like any other Indian I have tasted before

all the best to Sitaaray

We've always enjoyed the food and the ambience of the restaurant but it turned completely sour for us when we made the monumentous mistake of not QUOTING their very SPECIAL rate of £18 for the unlimited kebabs and curries menu and were charged £22.95, their usual rate. Apprently, not everyone is given this discounted rate – it doesn't matter that it is advertised at all places on various websites, because website advertising is nothing really.

Called them 3 times, left a mesage for the manager to call back; did not hear back from them at all and called a fourth time with a very unhelpful, flustred manager on the other end refusing to entertain even the thought of returning back the extra £4.95 charged for a party of 5 people.

Two more neagative:

1) The waitress looked like death warmed obver and spoke as such - without opening her mouth more than one milimeter, the result that it was s tirring guessing game as to what was just spoken.

2) Service charge of a whopping 15% is already added
to the bill despite it being advertised everywhere that it is optional - but ofcourse website advertising does not mean a promise.

They would rather loose customers than give what they adfvertise. Sadly none in our family and friends will go here again.

DO NOT GO TO THE SITAARAY!
The food was actually fairly tasty (apart form uncooked fish) but the positives stop there. Meagre portions, terrible, terrible service (inattentive, miserable and slow) and they tried to overcharge us and then pretend not to know about an offer plastered all over their website (thank you iphone for helping us prove this). Steer well clear!

How can you not like Sitaaray?? - The restaurant is one of a kind, the dedicated bollywood cinema theme is absolutely fantastic! Totally original to other Indian restaurant and still very authentic! I love it! The service is friendly, the managers always make sure we are looked after! The food is simply tasty Indian food - fresh ingredients and generous portions of meat!!
