Both the setting and food here are enjoyable, without ever being quite as good as you'd hoped. The short walk from the station leads you to expect a dramatic waterfront location. And the conversion of this former grain warehouse looks classy, the old girders painted red and neatly turned into Chinese pillars. But there's no river view, and the restaurant can feel large and anonymous - perhaps not surprisingly, as it's next to a conference centre. As for the dim sum, some of ours was superb. Grilled chive dumplings stuffed with prawns and water-chestnut were crisp outside and crunchy within. Turnip cake was firm yet creamy, with tiny flakes of pork and burnt onion and a distinctive taste of turnip. The cheung fun, though, were gelatinous, and the pak choi less al dente than plain gloopy. Whelks in black bean sauce was a nice idea for the East End, but didn't quite come off. With more Chinese people once again living in Docklands, it's perhaps not surprising that you have to book here at weekends, when a more authentic atmosphere might make up for any occasional shortfall in cooking standards.

Tables outdoors ( summer only 6, pavement ), Babies and children welcome ( high chairs ), Booking advisable, Separate rooms for parties ( seating 10-40 ), Takeaway serviceHad lunch with a friend there today. Not enjoyable at all. Having been a handful of times before we were expecting good food and good service. The service today was absolutely awful. We were not greeted upon arrival, ignored would be an understatement. People in queue behind us were seated first. Waited forever for a waiter/waitress, once again, not friendly. Food was at least good though. And then of course when trying to pay the bill, the manager and a different waitress were having an argument. I ask you!! Rude too. Not planning on going back again, well not to sit in the restaurant at least. Best option is to order a take away and collect it. Also the service charge does not go to the staff. I asked during our last visit there.
Unfortunately I will not recommend this restaurant to the public. We'll try Yi-Ban instead.
Just terrible, food, service, staff, cant believe in a recession a restaurant can behave like this.
Now I know why this place is allways empty, food poor, service shockingly bad and staff that just done care.
