Located on the ground floor of the Docklands' Marriott, Curve is, perhaps unsurprisingly, slightly corporate in feel, though it benefits from views over the water. The clientele is also a little staid. The menu contains plenty of seafood and fish, and a handy 'mix and match' option: choose your fish, way of cooking (grilled, pan-fried, and so on), then your sauce (coriander and chilli, garlic and mustard). A Pacific prawn starter in a tangy sauce of curry leaves and mustard seeds was excellent, but 'mix and match' haddock disappointed: three rather bland and weedy fillets that didn't marry with the flavours of the sauce. A chunky piece of salmon with a jalapeño and tomato sauce was better. Side dishes didn't impress: spinach was overcooked, and the paprika chunky chips arrived plain and unappetising. The confusing wine menu lists half-bottles before full-sized, so a seemingly reasonably priced Pouilly Fumé (£17.50) was in fact £33. The attractive location makes Curve a fair option for Docklanders and hotel guests, but don't cross town for it.
