Entrecote joins a dozen or so other kosher restaurants on Golders Green Road, although its bar-style set-up - with stools, a counter and striking silver, black and red decor - makes it seem more modern than most. The name conjures up images of a juicy French steak, but here beef gets the Jewish treatment: beaten thin, deftly seared and flipped on a grill, then chopped and scooped into freshly made pancakes. The menu is sensibly short: apart from steak there's chicken or chorizo, and side dishes include chunky chips, onion rings, guacamole and salads. It's all good-value, straightforward food, and the production on our visit was smooth and speedy. Try one of the refreshing fruit shakes made with berries, mango or passion fruit.
