For years, this place was simply known as Island Fusion, but in June 2011, new management added the moniker Keno's, a shortened name for the St Vincentian Kennedy family who now run things.
We willed the restaurant to be as comforting as before, with an equally enticing Caribbean menu. However, previously added twists, such as sweet potato mash, popadoms and seafood platters, have been replaced by a more standard menu featuring many of the dishes you'd expect from the Caribbean islands. That's not to fault the food, though.
An order of oxtail and another of brown stew fish came with generous portions of rice and peas, and plain rice respectively. Both dishes were well proportioned and, at £6 each, a bargain - but both needed a little more sauce to raise them from good to very good meals. Other main courses include curried or stewed chicken or mutton, ackee and saltfish, and a special Keno's sweet sticky chicken that promises savoury flavours and the chef's secret sauce.
Service was friendly if slightly hesitant. Weekly activities feature dominoes, chess, film screenings, musicians and rum nights.
