Located on the Crystal Palace triangle, Mediterranea has plenty of competition from other restaurants, but entering this little Sardinian-run establishment is a breath of fresh air. All bright aqua blues, colourful paintings and starched white tablecloths, the place feels clean and sun-kissed even on a rainy Friday lunchtime.
The menu, which is amended seasonally, offers a small but well-chosen selection of food. It has a Sardinian slant, but also Greek, Italian and Spanish influences. The emphasis is on dishes made from scratch, and the own-made asparagus ravioli and creamy, smooth panna cotta with raspberries were both expertly and beautifully executed. There's a pizza menu too and, at weekends, the restaurant offers child-sized portions - which no doubt contributes to its popularity with families.
The simple formula also appeals to a spectrum of other diners, with couples, small groups of friends and a smattering of businessmen in evidence during the week. Staff were highly professional, considerate and keen to talk through dishes. Prices are fair too, which along with the well-presented, unfussy food and the laid-back surroundings make Mediterranea a place that locals visit time and again.

Staff are great, very knowledgeable and welcoming, and they cope well with large parties too. We have been coming here regularly since it opened - definitely our favourite restaurant in the area. Long may it continue to thrive!
I went with my husband on a Sunday night, we were served the food immediately and the pizzas were really good just like Sardinia, I recommend this restaurant! You have to order their special bread with rosemary very delicious. We will definitely return.
