This little licensed caff in Vauxhall serves fry-ups for breakfast, then switches to a Thai menu for lunch, prepared by a Thai chef. But it's in the evening that it really comes into its own as an Eritrean restaurant.
The owners used to run the Abrehet Café in Kilburn and are now creating a similar menu of more than 30 Eritrean dishes in their new venue. Unless you really know your dorho (spicy chicken stew) from your kitfo (finely chopped rare beef seasoned in ghee with herbs and paprika), we recommend sharing any of the 'special platters', which feature a dazzling variety of dishes selected from the à la carte. We discovered that just one special platter feeds two people easily.
These dishes are served on a huge crumpet-textured pancake of injera, a slightly sour bread which you
tear off with your right hand to mop up the juices as you eat the moist stews. Carefully melded spices are the norm in Eritrean food, yet dishes aren't too chilli-hot. If you have some change spare, try the Eritrean coffee ceremony at £7 for two people. Be warned though - it's rocket fuel.

Been there many times, really love the food and i just can't believe how cheap it is for the quality. Service is always friendly and they do some really interesting beers in bottles, and just the standard becks etc on tap. Music adds to the atmosphere and when it is packed on a weekend it really crackles with enjoyment. The sharing platter culture of the food I think really adds to the experience, but it is small so booking ahead never goes amiss, especially at weekends.
The best place for food, socialising, music and the best service good for environment for drinking and meeting people one of the best places in London with a welcoming atmosphere. I love the place
Had a very enjoyable vegetarian meal there last Saturday. More tasty than the one I had at a certain Eritrean nearby which is always packed, and a bit more expensive. The service was much quicker too. Am going back there tonight with more friends in tow!
i love this place i recommendd to every one some thing different and they have coffe ceremony every sunday after 18 00 which i like about this place. i will like to thanks time out.
Wow, i have been to many eritrian places, but this kitfo house provides outstnanding food combined with fives star service.I can only recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to experience east african hospitality.
infact we serve the best kitfo in town, another thing to mention is kitfo is not the only kind of food we serve in the restaurant. We have about 25 to 35 different kind of food and kitfo if part of this menu. Kitfo house is a trend and we dont only sell kitfo, we sell english break fast, thai and east african food.
