This tiny yet ambitious venue offers a French neighbourhood feel in central London. Intimate dining is guaranteed in the small, candlelit interior decorated with art deco posters. The French owners have decided to drop their savoury crêpes and now focus solely on a bistro-style menu - with all mains costing £12.95, starters £6.50 and puds £5.
An expertly presented starter of beetroot-cured salmon came with a quenelle of horseradish cream and miniature pieces of pickled vegetables. Pan-fried gnocchi were crisp on the outside, giving way to a creamy interior flavoured with herbes de provence, aptly complementing the Mediterranean vegetables that came with them. Our portion was on the small side, though. Calf's liver arrived a tad too pink for our taste, and an intense flavour of sage overpowered the onion and sultana raviolo.
Nevertheless, the innovative French cooking convinced overall, and puddings continue the theme: baked chocolate soup with black pepper ice-cream, for instance.

Facilities
Tables outdoors ( 2, pavement ), Babies and children admitted, Available for hire, Takeaway serviceAt the Passage Café, they offer French food in their own perfectly developed way. The service is superb; personal yet professional, and then they let you get away with paying very little for it. Too, great wines from independent chateau's come at half price! This place is exactly what London should have more of. An independent business, which delivers a wonderful dining experience (based on 5-6 visits over last 2 years)
The Time Out review above doesn't do the place justice - just ignore it - go there, have 3 courses and a bottle of wine with someone you like. You will regret not having discovered it earlier and leave thinking about when you can come back.
Ignore the sniffy Time Out review above - this restaurant is a little gem.
lovely range of authentic Normandy ciders too, at about half the price of St John down the road.
Love the food and the atmosphere one of my favourit restaurant in London
Very cute little bistro with amazing value. The food is always excellent and changes regularly enough to keep things interesting. You have to try the chocolate soup with Sichuan pepper ice-cream. It will blow your mind!
