Punctuated with clusters of contemporary rice paper lanterns and traditional brush paintings, Naru's interior has an elegance to it, which is only slightly let down by the squeaky banquettes at the back.
There's a noticeable absence of cooking equipment on the small tables, as everything is prepared behind the scenes here. This is not necessarily a bad thing: our bulgogi was cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection - not always the case with table-top barbecuing.
The haemul jeongol (seafood stew) - rich and spicy, with a good mixture of seafood and vegetables - came in a traditional jeongol teul (cooking pot). Many of the other dishes are presented in a less conventional way, so expect rectangular plates with drizzled dressings, smears of sauce, and chapch'ae moulded in a chef's ring.
Service was a little too relaxed on our visit and it proved very difficult to catch the waiter's eye, but this didn't detract from an enjoyable evening of accomplished cooking. Naru works equally well for a post-shopping pitstop, casual dinner or special occasion, and is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Green tea is amazing presented.
Sea food dishes need to be refined - to much sugar!
Corean Chilli is my usual choice it was very good between 2004 and 2007, however after booking Naru, this is my 1st choice by a country mile. The Service is very god, I booked a table of 8 and I was the first one to arrive, with the others running upto 45 minutes late. They were laid back amidst my apologies, and told not to worry. The starters were very what is interesting is the presentation of the kimchi cabbage. You could have mistaken it for lasagne! The tiger prawns and vegetable dumplings were good. However the main dishes stole the show. The vegetable dish presented in a round bowl with onion type soup was highly regarded by my veggie friends. The Calmari idsh was excellent as was the sweet and spicy cjicken and the slowly cooked pork in sweet and soy sauce that I had.The pork was succulent and full of flavour. I have to say, I will be wining and dining there more often after this experience. The location also helps, craftily hidden away on the tottenham court road end of Shatfesbury ave. This place appeared to be popular with Koreans and Non-Koreans alike, this is place worth eating at, I truly hope its top standards continue for years to come. P.s this place is value for money, serve large main portions for £8-£9.50 per dish.
This was my first experience of Korean food and although I am unable to compare Naru to other Korean restaurants, I can say I had a very pleasant experience and I wish to explore more Korean cuisine in the future. The service is slow here, but friendly and very relaxed, so I would suggest going with friends where conversation easily flows as you will be dealing with rather long silences otherwise. Taking on the kimchi stew with rice was my challenge as I ordered it without knowing what it was and I was very pleased as it is one of the most delicious East Asian dishes Ive eaten. I would definitely recommend going for a soupy dish as it becomes quite nice to mop up the sauce with rice or noodles. I would say the portions of rice are quite small, particularly for what seemed the average size of main course, so it may be worth investing in one or two extra bowls to share if you enjoy having larger portions. One thing I would say is look at the menu carefully; we ended up ordering pinot grigio with our meal without seeing the Korean alcoholic drinks section of the menu and had we seen this earlier delicious plum wine could have accompanied our wonderful food. I would definitely return to try out different things of the menu as lots of it seemed very appealing and I felt very comfortable in the restaurant.
