Went here for a family birthday. We felt forced to finish out meal quickly and staff were hovering around our table hurrying us to leave. Avoid this restaurant at all costs! When I am paying around £40 a head (wine and desert included) I expect time to enjoy my meal.

Shocked at some of the reviews here... Having been a frequent customer of the Porcao chain of Churrascaria in both Rio and Sao Paulo, I've long looked for an authentic Brazilian dining experience in the UK.

In celebration of a recent family birthday, we took our chances and drove from Southampton to the Putney High Street branch and were delighted. The ambiance was enjoyable, the staff extremely friendly and helpful throughout our meal, and the food was excellent and genuinely transported me back to my favorite dining experiences in Brazil. Unlike other Churrascaria in the UK, food wasn't presented under the pretence of 'all you can eat, but we're serving you 4 spits of food and then we'll take your plate away'; even the Brazilian practice of removing a used plate and inviting you to start again was in full force.

I can't understand some of the negative reviews here. Staff were warm and friendly. A Churrascaria really isn't a place for a diner to go unless they love meat, in many different forms, but the smallest research would have set the correct expectation.

If you want a genuine Brazilian culinary experience at great prices, you can't go far wrong. Now please Preto, let's have a branch down here in Southampton soon, ok?

Having read the other reviews I felt I had to leave a comment. We went to Preto - Putney this weekend and had an amazing time! The food and the service were both brilliant and the atmosphere was fantastic. We have already recommended this restaurant to our friends and will definitely be going back. Whenever we asked the staff what things were etc we found them to be incredibly polite and helpful. At no point did we feel rushed to leave either.
Thank you Preto for a great dining experience :o)

The churracso it was a bit of let down not as much beef as supposed to be. Staff were all in a rush to clean the table before we had finished our food.
Salad it was no variety at all, meat were salty as well as the salad, caipirinha not made which cachaca 51.. I will definitely not go back in there , too expensive and food not so great as they show in their website.

have never in all my life been to such a poor restaurant. we booked for 7pm - a party of 6 - we were seated at 7.30pm. At 9pm we received the bill - we had not finished dessert or drinks. At 9.05pm they presented us with a bill for £267 and called over a table of 20 - 6 of the party were expecting to sit on our table. Only problem was that we had not finished our meal! The party surrounded our table and and demanded we leave supported by the restaurant management. When we pointed out that we had not completed our meal they knocked off £12 for the things that we had not finished. When we raised an issue with the timing they called the police. We spent 40 mins on a Saturday evening at 9.10pm explaining our situation to the Police in full view of all the diners and the female Manager accused us of being drunk! A complete and absolute disgrace and in all my 50 years of eating out 3 times a week I have never been exposed to such a disgraceful experience. DO NOT GO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I've been 3 times to Preto Putney. The first 2 times (October and December) were really great, but yesterday I was absolutely shocked. The buffet was a bit poor: no heart of palm, no fried cassava, and the cheesy rolls were well baked but had no taste. There was basically just 3 types of meat coming to the tables (every 5 minutes). Without seeing the chicken hearts after 1,5 hours waiting, I asked the manager if they had it. He said it was coming soon. Asked him again half and hour later, he said he never talked to me before. Then he came with chicken hearts completely dry and almost burned. I said it was too dry, and he told me he would come back with RARE chicken hearts (obviously being sarcastic). I said I didn't like rare chicken hearts, and he just left. Had to wait 30 minutes (twice) for my soft drink to come, despite the number of waiters not busy at all. Complaint to the hostess, and the waiter who took my order came to my table in a very rude manner, asking what was the problem. I said it was a problem to be discussed between the management and me, not between the two of us, then he gave me a pat on my back and said the problem was me. My friends were just as shocked as I was.
I went there to eat something different, but next time I'll just go to a normal steak house. And now I understand why last year it was always fully booked, and now there's no queue at all... Really sad.

Went to the Putney Branch tonight. Felt like the cattle ranch wasn't reserved to the trails of salty dry meat served. Food was very poor and over priced - watch out for the hidden cover charge as well. The manager Michelle is also patronising and incapable of reasoning. For 4 people we paid £150. Anywhere in Putney you'll find better value.

Last Friday I took the whole family - 6 of us in all to Preto in Putney, we had a superb evening, The service was excellent, the staff attentive but not intrusive, the atmospere - good energy with nice music. The food was delicious, a tremendous variety of meats, all beautifully cooked and a delightful hot and cold buffet table. I had a cocktail - a "Green Jamaican" that was exquisite, and for desert the Tiramisu was to die for! I asked my children to rate the restaurant on a scale of 1-10 my eldest (most cynical) son gave it a 9.5 my eldest daughter gave it a 13! I highly recommend this restaurant if you love good meat - and want a fun experience.

Went to the Putney restaurant last night. We thought it was good but probably wouldn't return. The meat was lovely and hot, but the buffet wasn't great. The food was only warm, and there were not labels to tell you what anything was. When I tried to ask the language barrier was a clear issue, leaving me non the wiser which is a shame especially as there are about 10 different sauces. Even though the restaurant wasn't that busy we found service slow and waited a long while for the bill, it seemed waiters noticed us but did not want to come over. All in all not a bad experience just not amazing either.

We spent our last evening at Putney Preto and found it to be amazing. The service was excellent - very attentive, smiling, and showed up regularly. Buffet was also amazing with lots of choices. Hostess, Michelle, was fantastic and went above and beyond when a problem arose within the restaurant. Apologized for the disruption with grace and sincerity - just hope her boss appreciates her efforts. Beats pub food hands down.

Went to the Victoria branch last night for a work dinner. They were very accommodating of our group of 13.

This place is great. Plenty of freshly cook, moist meat dropped directly on your plate. Chicken, Steak, Lamb and more.

I had concerns about the salad / buffet bar after reading the reviews and seeing pictures on the site. The don't do it justice. It's a great buffet bar with a wide selection of fresh food - this also makes a great alternative for vegetarian guests.

A good solid 4/5

First of all in relation to one review "how can you trust food that cost £8 with a voucher" the point should be how can you complain with food for £8. I recently attended the Putney branch and am happy to say this is the best Rodizio I’ve attended in London, and I have been to a few. The food was fresh and plentiful (not sure how Brazilian the lasagne was) but was all very nice. Labels of the food would have been nice, as the deep fried banana was a surprise with a bit of sirloin. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The tables are close together, but this is a rodizio characteristic. The staff were very friendly, service was prompt, and for a newly opened restaurant, it all flowed quite smoothly. With sittings at either 6 or 9, which I can understand the thinking behind it, but it doesn't work out brilliantly. It stops transient clientele, and also means that if you are over your time, you are rushed out. If like us you arrive early, there is a very small bar area that you feel awkward standing almost in the way of people. But other than that, I would certainly recommend trying out this lovely restaurant, as a group would be ideal.

A very bad experience all round. Service was dreadful, took more than half an hour to order a drink. The food was dreadful. Salad bar boring and tasteless. Meat was very strange tasting, hugely salty. This place is an expensive waste of time

Just had dinner here, the meat was sometimes a little undercooked - I didn't eat a piece of chicken wrapped in bacon as the chicken was very pink.
I also think I have had an adult male's entire salt quota for a week.
The meat tastes like it is cooked in and then sprayed with brine, with a liberal sprinkling of sea salt; presumably to make you buy lots of overpriced drinks.
The waiters were friendly & chatty, there was a HUGE telly playing a live concert - if I want dinner in front of the telly I have a ready meal from Marks & Spencer.
Would I go again? Only if I was with someone who really likes lots if bloody, salty, meat.

I had a dinner last saturday on Preto Restaurant in Putney. I'm very desapointed. How I can trust have good food and service for just £8.00 with a Groupon voucher? I'm very stupid guy for believe that. Anyway, for sure I never came back in this place.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE PUTNEY BRANCH OF THIS RESTAURANT:

After much anticipation for this (we loved Brazilian BBQ so much on a recent trip to Rio that we went to the same restaurant two nights in a row), we were hugely disappointed with the service at this restaurant.

The food is OUTSTANDING - the meats are beautifully prepared and the buffet is plentiful and delicious. But we had over 30 minutes break in service during our meal, then got our bill delivered without having asked for it and next thing (we were still contemplating which desserts to order as we had not had enough meat to fill us up!) we were pointedly told by the hostess to leave as our 90-minute slot before the next seating, was over.

We were never told that we had 90 minutes in which to enjoy our meal. In fact, the promotion we received described our meal as a "Long drawn-out affair with chatty waiters in no hurry to move you on"

Waiters not so chatty. Long and drawn-out? Only our wait for these expertly roasted meats.

My suggestion? Give them a couple of months to sort out their staff issues and then go and enjoy top-notch food at your leisure. I definitely won't be back until I start reading rave reviews about the service at the Putney branch!

Went with a couple of friends in there as I would like to show a bit of the Brazilian cosine to my “foreigner” fellas. The hot buffet was good, the cold not very impressive (as back home) and the “rodizio” it-self was good. I would give a 5* rate if the service of the barbecue man wasn’t a bit rude.
Overall is good. Ps. THE BEST CAIPIRINHA IN TOWN
