Bel Canto offers classic French cuisine (there's a sister restaurant in Paris) with a musical twist - the waiting staff are also classically trained opera singers and burst into song every 15 minutes. Dishes are selected from the three-course Lyric Menu (£42), with trad dishes such as pan-fried foie gras and prime beef fillet. Decor is suitably theatrical; the place looks like a cross between an auditorium and a luxury cruise ship, complete with velvet curtains and a red carpet. The musical menu is based around mainstream opera favourites such as Carmen and The Marriage of Figaro; audience participation is also encouraged, with diners invited to join in with the famous toast - 'Brindisi' - from La Traviata.

5/5

The concept of Bel Canto is to synthesise the worlds of Grand Opera and fine dining: a marriage of passions made in heaven, a unique blend of culinary and musical artistry. Both fine food and opera singing demand the highest standards of excellence and meticulous attention to detail to ensure the most exquisite of sensations for taste buds and ears alike.
