The combination of café and specialist grocery shop, with a tasty smörgåsboard of food, makes Scandinavian Kitchen a favourite with expat Nordic folk and local office workers. Friendly and good-looking Swedish staff chat away to regulars from behind cabinets displaying a flavoursome array of open sandwiches featuring all things pickled, cured and smoked, plus salads and wraps.

You can choose a plate of three or five items; smoked salmon and fish roe on rye, and pickled herring with onion are favourites. Beetroot and apple salad with crème fraîche was also delicious.

Relax on sofas by the window and listen to the sounds of Abba, or sit at tables towards the back where a vast array of Scandinavian goods fills the shelves. Useful 'what is this?' signs explain some of the bestsellers.

If you're just popping in for a cup of coffee and a slice of freshly baked cake, don't miss the gooey chocolate kladdkaka.

An absolute treasure trove for Scandinavians in particular as they have a grocery part where you'll find all your nostalgia and tasty weird things within a few square feet. Service is really pleasant as well.

A classic friendly neighbourhood cafe or perhaps extension the offices of many who work in the area. "Meet me at the Scandi in half an hour" is one of those things I like to hear. Lunch smorgasbord is extremely pleasant and the coffee is very decent. However, the key is the excellent service and enthusiasm which extends to (unofficially) fixing mobile phones, recommending electrical appliance stores nearby and just being a friend when one is needed. It's an extremely good place to meet people you know and sometimes you don't.

A fabulous place that is full of life and not pretentious. The guys an gals are wonderful and pleasant and always helpful and quite honest in helping make me make a selection from the super cakes that are on offer. The cinnamon buns are great but always go quite early but you can ring ahead and get them to hold one for you. There is an array of scandinavian goodies that on sale which is always nice to pick and try something a little different, salmiakki (salty liquorice) anyone?

And the coffee, up there with the best London has to offer!

A great place and thoroughly recommended, try it!

I'm just glad I work down the road ;)
