Posh fish and chips brand Sea Cow may now be a frequent presence at festivals and events, but this is where it all began, back in 2003. Sadly, the place no longer feels like the sensation it once was - though we find it hard to tell whether this is because the quality has gone down or whether the competition has upped its game.
Fish is bought fresh, displayed on ice and seaweed, and only cooked when ordered, so it's not sitting around under heated lamps going flaccid. There's a commendable emphasis on sustainability, with native catches such as mackerel enthusiastically promoted.
Although you'll find several alternatives to the straight battered fish supper (crab cakes, tuna with cracked pepper and coriander, spicy prawns), we've discovered that these can be disappointing. Note: children eat free at weekends until 4pm.
