With a new name and a new, stylish interior, the former Fishery Fish Bar has upped the game for Stoke Newington chip joints. Wine comes in chic tumblers, wooden communal tables line the elegant white interior, and the main wall is covered in a drawing of local landmarks. If it weren't for the aromas of frying, you might almost forget you were in a chippy.
The menu consists of a selection of deep-fried fish and, if your arteries are up to it, you can order a battered Mars bar for dessert. Nevertheless, there are also some more healthy and intriguing alternatives; on our visit, the handwritten blackboard menu offered swordfish with vegetable couscous. Grilled British sea bass was moist and came stuffed with lemon and garlic. If only the accompanying chips - pale and limp - had spent longer in the fryer.
