A bright, spacious, semi-industrial conversion of the former Danish Seamen's Mission has created a very pleasant community café and arts centre, the kind of place that sells video tapes and music cassettes (remember them?) and loads of second-hand books. The generously served food (veggie fajitas, pasta or lentil soup on our visit) is organic and own-made; granted, it's heated in a microwave and pretty rudimentary, but it's filling and tasty. For breakfast, you can have muesli with yoghurt, toast or, oddly, merguez sausages. The decor includes a changing array of local art; furniture is schoolroom basic, with some comfy sofas. Have a nose around the lovely screening room and the first-floor terrace.
