A suitably simple black, white and red interior serves as a backdrop to this streamlined operation based around the piada, a crisp Italian flatbread infused with olive oil, packed with flavourful ingredients and then toasted on a griddle. The menu lists 16 combinations ('zero' to 'sedici', but without a 13), from the pleasantly rustic matching of mortadella and mozzarella to more sophisticated pairings (bacon, courgette and mozzarella, or chicken, brie and sun-dried tomato); the sweet variation loaded with Nutella is the only one not served with rocket. Generous bowls of soup make for a satisfying alternative, and impeccably frothed coffees and dense, clean-cut brownies encourage lingering at the handful of tables. Staff are friendly and the vibe upbeat. A superb alternative to the usual suspects when it comes to sandwich culture in the capital.
