It's a surprise that Centre Point - for so long closed to the public - is now so easily penetrated. There are none of Vertigo 42's airport-style security checks, just a charming lady behind the brass desk in the lobby to confirm your reservation and buzz you into the lift for the 32nd floor.
We're told Paramount gets very busy on weekend evenings, but it was almost empty for Saturday brunch. The short menu was predictable, but delivered a superb vegetarian risotto, rich with mascarpone and served with vividly intense confit tomatoes, and an accomplished, frothy-topped asparagus and truffle soup.
Attention to detail faltered with bland cod goujons, barely lifted by their tartare sauce, but revived for a nicely presented, deconstructed tiramisu with two scoops of blood orange sorbet, one of them a quenelle of froth.
The inventive cocktails are expensive (£11 and upwards), but fun - a Breakfast Martini made with marmalade infusion comes with toast on a swizzle stick; the Cherry & Bubblegum Sour has a glass edged with sherbet.
The setting is rather chic, especially the more colourful and more relaxed bar areas, and the waitstaff are straightforward and personable. Are the views worth the prices? Assuredly, yes - especially from the 360° Viewing Gallery upstairs, where there's another tiny bar (with decent bar snacks) and several window seats.
Sorry, booking is not available at the moment.

Booking advisable, Separate rooms for parties ( seating 16-30, 150 ), Disabled ( lift; toilet ), Dress ( smart )We had an amazing time here last night. Incredible views (I don't think their website does it justice), good food, prices not bad for views and buzz, great cocktails and a fab maître d' called Giles who showed us around the viewing gallery upstairs and talked me through my initial vertigo - thanks Giles you made our night!
We booked to eat here after a theatre show so we arrived very late. The place was buzzing. We were shown to our seats fairly quickly but we weren't at all rushed once we got to our table. The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was lovely, small but really, really tasty. The lasagne on one of my dishes was crispy but I forgave them for this because the rest of the meal was so good. The food was pricey though, we had a starter each (there were just two of us), a main each, one drink of beer and a bottle of water. The bill was just under £100. I'm not sure we'd return if there were only two of us again, it would probablly be better with a group because the restaurant was extremely noisy making it very difficult to talk. The view was fantastic so although we didn't get to talk we certainly had plenty to admire.
Had a great meal and evening last Saturday night 29/01 for my partners birthday, faultless food, amazing window seat views, good staff, all wonderful. 2 courses & bottle champers £170 so you can make your mind up if that is good value for you for what is a unique location. Busy when we left and bar on upper floor packed and cold so not great but food/restaurant were.
Booked in as part of the London Food Festival lunch special for a group of 6.. turned up and decided we would enjoy the views on a few drinks first.. waiters were quite pushy to order drinks and when we ordered less than the number of people we had, was met with sarcastic remarks..
Onto the lunch, they gave us the brunch menu (it was 2pm) and was told that the LFF special was not available on the weekends although it was booked with them and confirmed with my CC and the place was pretty much empty..
They kept pushing us to see the brunch menu which I was not impressed with and again met with sniggering waiters and acrimonious comments. After making a complaint about this, was finally given the LFF menu to order and throughout the ordeal waiters have been the rudest ones I've ever met with simple things like the butter tray thrown briskly onto the table..
View's are great, but not worth the rudest service Ive ever experienced on offer at this pretentious dig..
Agree with Anneka, Views great but restaurant is retro but tired. Service very slow and haphazard. Food was West End prices but tired and luke warm in both senses. Portions so tight we're off to the chip shop Maybe it's just because we're back from Chicago but these guys could learn a lot from their high-rise opposite numbers on the other side of the "pond".... Disappointing.
Not sure how Time Out gave Paramount 4* - the food was pricey and average at best. A big disappointment. Go to the bar and enjoy the amazing view over a few drinks - just don't waste your money on the food.
