The portions could be bigger. Lasagne came in a really small and shallow dish and cost £9.00. Pizza was tasty but had a very thin base so we left a bit hungry. In general the quality of the food was good but they def need to up their game in terms of portion size. It feels like a bit of an insult otherwise.

I love this place, it's really what Church Street needed. I've been here a number of times and the food has always been top notch - the service is efficient, non invasive and friendly and the décor/atmosphere is lovely .

It really makes it hard to leave N16 for dinner with Homa down the road..

Tried Homa for the first time last Friday evening after having eyed it for weeks but unable to get a table walking in off the street without booking. So we booked (2 hours before ETA) but when we arrived they had no record of our booking. Luckily, there was a spare (tiny) table available. The space is lovely, airy and bright with a great buzzy atmosphere. Unfortunately the food did not live up to our expectations..The seared scallops with saffron salad was hardly seared and rather flavourless (except for the seafood/fishy aroma - which probably means they weren't that fresh). The pasta (like egg noodle pasta) with crab and cherry tomatoes was tasty but the pasta overdone (the texture was like packet 2 min noodles that had been cooked for 5 mins) so it felt a bit of a task eating a whole plateful. My partner had a pizza which was OK but nothing to write home about. Had a bottle of organic red, cocktails and coffees and would have thought the price was reasonable (if the food had been good that is). Perhaps we just ordered badly - the menu changes daily apparently. I really wanted to love this place as it's local and looks great, but I came away very disappointed. Might come back to try the brunch as they sound fab!

Homa is wonderful - there are lots of cafes and restaurants in Stokey but none come close to it for loveliness. It's beautiful inside and the food is absolutely amazing - their french toast with hazelnuts and apple is my favourite treat. It's great for coffees etc during the day - there are often people working away on macs - and a properly glamorous dinner venue in the evenings. Despite saying that by venturing into Hackney he thought he might get stabbed, even Giles Coren gave it a big thumbs up!

Tried Homa for the first time on Friday night and thought it was brilliant. Really lovely, perfectly cooked food - my fish with samphire was easily as good as, if not better than, a similar meal in a Michelin-starred restaurant the next night. Nice, attentive, but not over-bearing service too.

Downstairs could be a bit noisy and crowded, but nice and airy upstairs.

So glad this has come to Stoke Newington (but worth a trip if you live further afield - it's not just a 'local')
