In Soho's crowded lunchtime landscape, it's all about offering something different and new. The area's latest addition, Flatplanet, has created a new gimmick with a USP of topped flatbreads.

The pittas come with toppings such as 'Moroccan chicken' (£4.85) - houmous, sour cream and tabouleh - or spicy cured sausage with rocket and parmesan shavings ('El Diablo').

While we like the concept, a lukewarm chewy pitta base paired with a cold topping can't beat a crisp pizza with a meltingly hot topping. Also, the toppings have tendency to fall apart - the mess we made from eating the flatbreads with our hands was unavoidable.

Other portions were on the small side. For example, the sponge cakes - chocolate or lemon - were £3.60 each for slim slices. A playful alternative is the Nutella flatbread.

Friendly counter staff and a mix-and-match décor, slightly reminiscent of the Leon chain, make this a pleasant place to sit down for lunch in Soho.

They've sorted their offering out hugely since last year when I think TO must have reviewed it, as most of the toppings are hot, plus the flatbread base is amazing. Really like the dolce latte cheese, pepper, mushroom and basil one. Very good place for lunch.
