This café, open daytimes through evenings, is decked out in a girly nostalgia chic with retro furniture that's for sale. Crooners are on the jukebox, the waitress looks as if she's on her way to a Lindy Hop, customers play Scrabble.
The café menu's simple, and limited: a slice of quiche with salad, sandwiches, large scotch eggs. The quiche was flabby, the salad an odd mix of ingredients that didn't quite work. More effort is made with the cakes: walnut and cranberry, orange and almond, and a score of other confections displayed on the counter. The selection of teas is excellent, presented in pretty teacups.
In the evenings the naughty alcoholic drinks come into their own - the 'Ginger Rodgers' (sic) is made with rum, raspberry purée, lime and lashings of ginger beer. There are many events held here, either crafts oriented or just plain silly, such as 'dot to dot disco'. From a purely culinary perspective Drink Shop & Do may be a triumph of style over substance, but ah, what style.

Meal for two with drinks and service: around £30
The service is disorganised, slow and rude. Cakes were stale (not surprising, as they'd been left out on the counter with flies buzzing around them) and the place is a total rip-off. The place is littered with junk shop tat with ludicrous price tags.
I love the food; healthy salads and quiches and giant sized scotch eggs. All of the cakes are really yummy; almond & chocolate cake is amazing as are the custard tarts not flabby but oozing fresh custard and sticky puff pastry, lemon drizzle citrus and not too sweet, and so many more to try... mmm!
Cute place, food is not gourmet, but its is still good for the price. Service too is not super fast, but there is a good, chilled atmosphere and great interiors.
This is one of my favourite places to chill out with friends either for lunch or after work. It's also one of the few places serving decent cake in Kings X, and quite possibly London! Can't help thinking Time Out have been too stingy on the star rating, but then perhaps it's because they want to keep this lovely little gem to themselves!
We had a great night - such a kitsch place, but it is just very unfortunate that there is such an inhospitable owner. Would have got five stars if she had been more pleasant and accommodating.
Really gorgeous little cafe - we had a brilliant night, but it is just a bit disappointing that there is such a inhospitable owner.
but i love the quiche!! and that haloumi lentil salad....mmm... rock on drink shop & do! we <3 you
