Just a stone's throw from Charing Cross station, Gino Gelato pair traditional Italian methods with organic British milk to make their high-quality ice-cream. In pride of place at the back of the vanilla and chocolate coloured gelateria sits an ice-cream churner, used daily to turn out different kinds of gelato from a collection of 200 or so recipes.

Of the 26 flavours on offer on our latest visit, vin santo with crushed cantucci was the shining star; a slightly salty pistachio was also extremely good. The tiramisu flavour was rich and creamy with actual cake crumbs, and a fresh and fruity frutti di bosco had nothing artificial about it. We'll definitely be back to sample more, including the chocolate and chianti sorbet, and the olive oil ice-cream that staff were raving about.

amazing texture, and subtle but rich taste. for those who are used to the commercialised and store-bought packaged ice creams, that of even haagen dazs, the true taste of the flavours will be much more real and just plain better than what you are used to. my favorite is the tiramisu (hints of espresso and the bits of lady fingers are proportionally perfect!), and of course the old fashioned Vanilla!
