While the basic concept remains the same, a recent spruce-up has left Vitao looking healthier than ever. The good-value buffet is arranged around one wall and the front counter. Choose the size of plate you want - small (£5.50), large (£6.50) or a plate that can be refilled within the space of an hour (£8.90) - pay, and then help yourself to the array of vegetarian, vegan, macrobiotic, gluten-free and/or raw food dishes that span the globe, from sprouted chickpea curry to vegetable paella via greek salad.

Dishes can be on the watery side, and veg a little undercooked, but the health-factor is taken seriously, and staff are helpful and friendly. What's more, the juice/smoothie/espresso bar is extensive.

Well i'm not a vegan, nor did we realise this was vegan food when we went in but the place looked cool so we tried it. I am not sure what other people were eating but we heaped our plates with a variety of things and it was all inedible. Literally disgusting, not just bland as some people have said. I don't know what they're using to make this food but nothing i've ever tasted before! Everything had the same weird stinky foot taste to it.

I can honestly say this was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. The decor is the only thing this place has going for it. The staff are rude and show no interest what ever. As an Englishman with a passion for Asian cooking, the food tasted like it was cooked and served by Kerry Katona. The dishes were labeled with exotic tiles, but fell way short of enjoyment, excitement or in some cases even pleasant. Veggie food can be fantastic if done well but this was appalling. I asked to speak to the manager upon leaving only to be told that they were unavailable. I left feeling ripped off and hungry.
