Don't get confused, as Alice has two Houses in NW6; the original in West Hampstead, and this Queen's Park branch which opened in 2010.
Good use has been made of a corner site which has seen many restaurants come and go, but this is by far the most comfortable, decorated in a comtemporary chic of bare brick walls, exposed designer lightbulbs and their cables, leather sofas and elk antlers on the walls. Behind the bar the hipster-style staff are reassuringly friendly and smile a lot.
On tap there are some decent brews, including Camden Town Brewery's Hells lager (a crisp, Helles-style brew), and decent wines by the glass.
To eat there are platter-style dishes such as a a simple flank steak - nicely cooked, and a generous portion, served with good hand-cut chips.
If you find the main bar a little too noisy, through the back is a slightly quieter area, popular with Sunday brunchers.

I am always a bit unsure of the Alice House 'chain'. While both branches look ok and tick the boxes something makes me a bit unsure. It is like the kid at school buying the in trainers but never quite getting it. This is what I feel the AH pubs are. Never quite up to scratch and always trying a bit too hard. I could almost handle this as least I could hope the food and service were ok but sadly not the case. Maybe I should never order cocktails from places like this but I thought with simple ones, not much can go wrong. Sadly I was mistaken. Whole clumps of ice, barely mixed mixers are a start. As for food, I went there for breakfast and was the pastry (ready made) took about half hour to appear and my toast ended up being olive bread served with jam!! I am now at a loss for words but not others places to go after this episode.
Annoyingly disappointing. Having completed a marathon on Saturday night I was looking forward to a relaxing pub roast on Sunday. It could have been so good.
First it took three attempts to get a ginger beer with a top up of soda water and a slice of lime right. Alcoholic ginger beer should not be served unless requested I would have thought. I was then told my food order had not been put through, after 15 minutes of waiting. After some to'ing and fro'ing to see how long it might now take, the 'roast spring chicken' and accompanying veg etc, arrived another ten minutes or so later. The accompaniments, though of varying temperatures were very nice; crisp plump roast potatos and a nice assortment of nicely cooked vegetables in a very good gravy. However, for £14.50, it seems unbelievable to be served four of the tiniest chicken legs I have ever seen, and four legs? Interesting. Like four chicken wings on a plate with barely any meat between them, to say I was disappointed at my experience is an understatement and I will not return with so many other good pubs nearby. They also seemingly have no air con, which was stifling in the heat. I would have given one star, but the vegetables were good. I also would have given feedback directly, but it all seemed so elementary.
