The Greekness of this three-floor family-run restaurant doesn't stop at its menu. The patron checks diners are ready to order with 'Endaxi?' ('OK?'), and the jovial matron trades jokes about the veracity of the Greek legend of Daphne. Service was super-attentive, and a dropped napkin was whisked from the floor and replaced before we could even react.

The small roof terrace lined with baskets of flowers makes a lovely venue for a summer's meal, while the interior varies from the ground floor's floral patterned booths and monochrome photos of Cypriot village women, to the more earthily Mediterranean feel of the wine rack-lined first-floor dining room.

A blackboard list of specials offers an extensive choice of seafood, but on previous visits the fish has paled against the more typically Hellenic fare. A portion of moussaká came in a full-to-the brim soup bowl, topped by a rich crust of cheese; the filling in our spanakópitta was tart and satisfyingly creamy; and two skewers of lamb souvláki were grilled to charcoaly, succulent perfection.

Unfortunately, many main courses require the additional purchase of side dishes, but diners are treated to a complimentary portion of loukoúmi on paying.

I have been going to this family restaurant for 25 years!! The mezes are just sensational. In fact, I think it is some of the best value food in London. It has a lovely atmosphere too and the service is excellent.
