An off-shoot of the renowned paninoteca in Milan, De Santis feels genuinely Milanese - from the clean lines of its smartly modern interior to its authentic Italian menu, extensive wine list and clientele of creative media types who rely on the place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. An ability to turn out the perfect panino with bread baked daily on the premises makes De Santis a popular lunch spot, with more than 40 fillings ranging from cured meats like speck and bresaola to seafood and vegetarian options. There's also an excellent selection of soups and salads, plus pasta and risotto dishes with bold Italian character. The charismatic owner's insistence on using only top-drawer olive oil and ingredients from renowned producers proves that quality is a priority.

De Santis is the best place to eat for quality, affordablity, taste, atmoshere and friendly service. I feel like I'm in Milano when I have my breakfast and chat with the staff - they make you feel like a long lost relative. Lunch times are buzzing and the panini are fantastico! In the evening, the place takes on a different feel - much more relaxed and the dinner menu is first class with the best seafood risotto I've tasted. The best thing was getting the bill, yes really, I was sure they left something off as it was very reasonable.
