Though most are shopping for diamonds while in London’s Hatton Garden, Fabrizio’s may be brightest gem in the area. This intimate, family-run restaurant is refreshingly unpretentious, with café-style wooden chairs and tables and paintings of Mediterranean food to whet the appetite for the huge Italian flavours on offer. The genial chef/host Fabrizio is always at hand with suggestions from either the a la carte or outstanding seasonal specials menu. Regular favourites include warm chicken livers with wild mushrooms and fried polenta, homemade spaghetti with baby clams, chilli and cherry tomato sauce and seared beef tagliata with balsamic reduction and rocket. Prices rarely go over the £13 mark, making it a diamond for both gullet and pocket.

What is 'following'?A superb restaurant only let down by its location which is cramped when it is crowded and sometimes a bit empty at night where the passing traffic in the neighbourhood is all on the other side of the railway line. The chocolate mousse is the best I've tasted and I've tasted a lot. Fish is cooked delightfully with finesse worthy of a more glamorous location.
