Bringing a touch of French flair to Kennington, Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec is a traditional brasserie and wine bar set inside a lovingly refurbished English pub. It is run by two brothers – Nolan and Florent - whose parents have run the neighbouring Lobster Pot restaurant for 18 years, so there’s plenty of authentic French charm on offer. Set over two floors, the warm and inviting space is divided into a rustic ground floor brasserie and an upstairs Piano bar with live piano music every evening. Head Chef Florent specialises in classic French dishes like snails in puff pastry with a white wine sauce; Toulouse sausages with homemade mash and red onion gravy; and chargrilled sirloin steak with frites and green pepper sauce.

What is 'following'?Food and service are always outstanding. Not always the cheapest, but inexpensive for the high quality of food you will enjoy!
A real gem and a great surprise to find. Booked a pre-theatre slot for six people and despite time constraints, had a wonderful meal. Food was perfect, not overly fancy but good honest French cuisine and well priced. Owner was extremely warm and staff all helpful. Belly pork and Chocolate Fondant pudding were simply divine. Having to leave and miss the music was our only disappointment!
Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec is probably one of the best restaurants to go to. This is my thrid visit at the brasserie. We were always welcomed with open arms. I am new to the area and proud that I made the right move. The brasserie holds this unique french charm, maybe its the food, the service, the live music or the french speaking waitresses. Whatever it is the combination of all these made the experience warm unlike many contemporary restaurant where you feel unwelcomed.
I had tried a few dishes already so far the cote de boeuf for 2 was wonderfully cooked to perfection. The lamb was my partners favourite dish as it was cooked for 24 hours. I sometimes wonder how it becomes so tender. I have to admit although all of the dishes I tried looked and tasted delicious, I find the menu somewhat limited in fish options. As for dessert the choc fondant is to die for with white chocolate ice cream.
Every evening there is live jazz music in the wine bar on the 1st floor, this is great for me and my wife to enjoy a night out with a hearty meal after a hard days work. The smoking terrace is another bonus as well are the victorian style toilets. Our next visit might be in the private dining room where there is no hire fee apparently.
We ate at Toulouse Lautrec, Kennington last night 15th May 2010. So, so disappointed. Service,at best, average with pretty flavourless food (and the four of us tried just about everything!). Value for money? No. Nice place. Yes.
