London's Cantina del Ponte restaurant subscribes to the three R's that make Italian food great: rustic, robust, and reasonably priced. Located on the Thames with stupendous riverside views of Tower Bridge from its umbrella-covered terrace, Cantina del Ponte might just transport you from grey old Blighty to a trattoria in Italy. That said, the décor here is a smart mixture of up-to-the-minute stylish combined with a Mediterranean-toned mural that complements the thrilling views. Savvy diners flock to this former Conran restaurant for business lunches and romantic dinners. Let the charming Itatlian waiters ply you with beef carpaccio with rocket and capers; corn-fed chicken with sweet and sour aubergines; or pollock baked in tomato with olives, capers and raisins. Main courses also include pasta dishes such seafood linguine and potato and truffle ravioli. Cantina del Ponte’s wine list confidently remains with the Italian borders, and a separate fine wine list offers some truly memorable bottles.

Horrible experience. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. I had booked 3 weeks in advance, but they messed up. I even called at 6pm to reconfirm a 10pm booking on 21 Jan and asked for a cake cos it was my wife's bday but despite this THEY FORGOT. IF YOU ARE READING THIS, SERIOUSLY, STARVE but DO NOT GO TO Cantina.

Hugely disappointing despite the location, the terrace and the not unpleasant staff. Main course of pork produced raw meat by the bone and a response that this happens with boned meat. it doesn' t if you have a chef that can cook but we could not speak to the chef when asked as we were told she did not speak English. How does a chef run a kitchen and the supply chain if he or she cannot speak the language? The discount on the bill was the least they could do but needless to say we will not be going back and will not be recommending a visit to anyone else.

Reasonable food, slightly overpriced and don't order the chocolate mousse if you are expecting chocolate mousse for it is unlike any chocolate mousse I have ever encountered - much more a parfait and therefore disappointing if you are looking forward t o a mousse. Service terrible, waiters were uninterested in customers apart from the critic sitting at the table adjacent who had excellent service whilst the rest of us were ignored. And then they add a 12.5% service charge without asking.
