For a spot of urbanised, Saharan-themed socialising in the middle of Soho, this stylish North African restaurant and bar provides the perfect mise-en-scène for pre-theatre soirees and raucous evening meals. Located on the corner of Greek Street and Old Compton Street, Maison Touareg has a candles-and-cushions Moroccan-style interior with low tables and lanterns, and downstairs there is a basement bar perfect for pre-dinner cocktails. The menu – prepared by Lebanese and Moroccan chefs – comes with a side-order of belly-dancing and shisha-smoking, and favourite dishes include the lamb tagine, the chicken pastilla’s flavoured with honey and cinnamon, and the cous cous served with sweet chutney.

Poor food, poor service, tacky atmospher and a total waste of money.
Hardly worth wasting time commenting further other than to advise other potential diners to stay clear of this place.
Smell from the toilets is enough to put anyone off their food, but the bland, under cooked rubbish that is served up as main courses will have you running for the door.. toilet door that is. I will obviously never visit this place again and strongly advise others to walk on by.

I ate here recently for friends' birthdays, and the food was distinctly average and overpriced, especially anything without meat! I know North African is not very veggie friendly, but the mains at £14-15 each are a rip off. Eg. some couscous with a few bits of courgette and aubergine for that price is out of order. The meat portions also seemed to vary a lot depending on what was ordered. I won't be visiting again or recommending this place to anyone.

Visited Maison Tourag on Sunday 25 July 2010.It is many decades since I have had such a bad meal.Ordered Kibbeh as a starter. It obviously came straight from the freezer as the meat interior was still frozen.Complained and was told I would receive a fresh dish.Five minutes later kibbeh reappeared with the interior still frozen.Chicken Tagine was at least hot but of very poor quality-a couple of scraggy bits of chicken in a salty chicken stock like broth.Even the pitta bread was of very poor quality.
Unfortunately this restaurant based on my experience produces very inferior Moroccan food and indeed and seriously scary frozen meat.
