A minute’s walk from the palace and two from Victoria station, Bumbles has been serving British classics on Buckingham Palace Road for almost four decades. There have been several makeovers over the years, the recent adding a bold touch of modernity to the overall cosiness. But Bumbles’ heart has remained constant: generous portions of first-class British food served with a smile. Roll up for up such classics as bangers and mash, lambs’ liver, and Speyside sirloin. With fish of the day and pasta for pescetarians and vegetarians. Genuinely good value. Bumbles Restaurant diners should allow at least 1.5hrs for a meal during early evening service.

What is 'following'?We had dinner at Bumbles a few months ago and thought the food was excellent and great value. This is quite unusual in central London where most places are either really bad or very expensive, so we were pleasantly surprised. Our food took quite a long time to arrive, but to keep us happy the waitress brought out some free snacks while we were waiting which was a nice touch. The best thing was definitely the dessert: I had some kind of meringue with lemon or lime sorbet inside that was the best dessert I have ever tasted.
I have dined at bumbles several times and I couldn't fault a thing. The food and service have always been of high standards. I recently had dinner at bumbles last weekend and yes, I had the banana flambe and I couldn't disagree more with the comment about it being too salty 'cause it was absolutely superb! One of the best desserts I have ever tasted and I eat out with my husband almost twice a week!
The service was warm, friendly and extremely efficient. Our water was constantly refilled which added an extra touch to the whole experience. I look forward to my next visit to bumbles!
You wonder why your second glass of tap water wans't cold enough. Be a better customer.
After reading the reviews I was looking forward to having lunch at this restaurant, however it did not live up to its reviews. The food was good but not great nor fantastic. The service was ok, 1st glass of tap water was beautifully cold subsequent glasses was no chilled no Ice and one wonders why subsequent glasses of water could not be of the same standard as the first. We also purchased 3 bottles of wine with our meal!
The service drastically deteriorated when a complaint was made about the desert, a chocolate, flambé surprise, the surprise was definitely in the quaintly of salt in the nut brittle, I tasted some of my friends and it was like taking a mouth full of crunchy sea water! At this point the service deteriorated drastically, the waitress attempted to convince us that this is the taste of the dish and there is nothing wrong with it. However one of our party had had this dish previously and said it was great the first time, now the waitress said that the chef had changed the recipe to achieve more of a balance with the sweetness of the chocolate. Did they ever hear of the customer is right!! I had the green tea brulee which was good.
I have another pet hate in restaurants, I greatly dislike waters / waitress stretching over the table and across diners to serve this is a huge NO NO for me, had I not been out on a business lunch I would have definitely complained! Had the service and the acceptance of our taste buds view been accepted this would be a restaurant I would eat in again however, the service and lack of accepting diners views leaves a bitter taste and my money will be spent else where in the future.
