Opt for the tube over the Eurostar and pay a visit to Notting Hill’s Bloody French for bohemian bistro cookery. This popular bijous eatery has been drawing in both locals and Francophiles since 2007 and its classic décor of black painted walls and large shared tables fairly reeks of Parisian chic. Deeply and decadently rich traditional French dishes make up the petit but perfectly formed menu, including gratinee a l’oignon (onion soup) and a slowly braised lamb shank with vegetables and apricots. The restaurant’s policy on letting customers bring their own wine from Sunday through Tuesday and set price menus make Bloody French bloody good value. Mais oui, mon chéri!

What is 'following'?The food was delicious but the service was subpar. I would say do not go to this restaurant if you are 1) an impatient, hungry person 2) expect good service/English-speaking staff. Other than the service, the ambiance and menu were divine. Perhaps it was an off night - the staff didn't inform us that their card machine was broken until they brought the bill, prompting a trek in the rain to find a cash point. When we mentioned our chagrin to the staff, they really didn't seem to care. Food was amazing but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
Dilicious food, great service. The restaurant is located in a nice area of Notting Hill and we really enjoyed our evening. The restaurant is very cozy and looks a lot better than the pictures show on their website. Over all great experience, would always go there again!
Having read the reviews decided to give Bloody French a try last night. Must say that the food was extremely good. The place is a tad noisy (could do with some sound proofing), but the overall experience was very positive and it's fantastic value for money
Bloody French was the best restaurant I could have chosen to celebrate my birthday with 15 of my friends. The atmosphere is relaxed but by no means simple (French are never simple…), the lights are dim, there is a fireplace, music is perfect and the dark colours and chunky wooden tables make the food stand out. Which would stand out anyway as it’s quite delicious. Service was attentive and fast, considering we were such a big group. Would definitely recommend the place!
Hi Jessica,
It's the first time that i have to answer to a review.
You have the right to tell that you was disapointed by your experience at Bloody French.
And we are really sorry to see that you had the feeling to have been stolen.
But we are not surprised because our waitress told us that you was not happy at all during the payment.
Our offer is 3 courses FROM £22.9.
It's a way for the customers to have a better price if they want to eat a 3 courses.
You have booked your table by email , so you was able to see our dinner menu on our website which was really clear about our supplements on some starters and mains.
You have eaten two 3 courses with scallops , Foie gras , seabass , Duck confit Parmentier and desserts + a free bottle of wine for £53.8.
Without our 3 courses and free wine offer , it would cost you £74.6.
IT IS A GOOD DEAL.
We make only fresh and home made food and the majority of our customers tell us that we are quite cheap for the area.
It's the First time after 4 years of existence than someone tell us that and every parisian restaurant works with this supplement system for a 3 courses menu.
We are really sorry , but really sorry for the feeling you had after this evening at Bloody French but we really still think that our offer is a good deal and not a tourist trap....
Best regards,
Bloody French
Extremely disappointing. Nice restaurant, nice location and nice food but the service was extremely rude. We opted for the 3-course set-price formula, but when the bill came we saw that we had been charged for much more. Only then did the waitress point out that the vast majority of the items on the set-price menu had substantial additional charges printed in dark red chalk on a black board, and told us that we were still getting a good deal. It was too bad as we had a nice meal, but the experience left us feeling that we had been caught in a classic Parisian set-price tourist trap.
One of my favourite restaurants in London.
I feel in a Paris restaurant when i eat at Bloody French which has excellent reviews everywhere.
Good Food and wine and service is great.....
Enjoy the fire place with a good Bourguignon and a Diabolo Menthe!
